Roundup of My Favorite Shopping Websites
Before I had kids and got married, my favorite way to spend a weekend afternoon was a shopping and lunch date with my best friend. Even after I got married, I enjoyed spending the day shopping, regardless of whether I bought anything. Now that I have kids and an autoimmune condition, strolling through stores and shopping for hours is just not possible.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like looking at pretty new things, it just means I can’t spend hours and hours shopping. I’m still the same person who likes shopping for new fun clothes, beauty products and pretty things for the house. Unfortunately, I just lack the time to go from store to store. I can’t remember the last time I stepped into a department store. It has been that long.
Since I do my grocery shopping at Target, I occasionally pick up a new t-shirt or summer dress, although I try to limit myself since I’m there all the time. I also occasionally swing by Old Navy and H&M, which are across from Target, when they have a big sale.
However, while I like shopping at these low cost stores for trendier pieces, or even seasonal pieces, I prefer to shop certain brands for quality pieces to anchor my wardrobe. I feel like the higher end pieces make the low cost pieces seem more luxurious. I don’t have a large shopping budget so I need to get my favorite brands at a lower price so that I can buy more items (my logic is clearly flawed).
If you like designer and high-end brands, you need to check out my favorite online shopping websites.
Roundup of My Favorite Shopping Sites
*This post contains referral links, which means I may get a referral bonus if you use my link. There is no additional cost to you and you may also invite friends to use your referral link to gain a referral bonus.
I have been a member of Hautelook for years. Basically, you sign up for a free membership and get a daily email with their brands and items on sale. Some items sell out faster than others so I usually check the email in the morning to see if there’s a brand I like on sale.
In looking at my order history for this post, it seems I have purchased most of my shoes from Hautelook. I recently bought Sperry rain boots (that I love so much I hope for rainy days), Lucky Brand flats (so comfortable I’m waiting for the next time they come on sale so I can buy more), Toms, Franco Sarto boots, Converse for my husband and son, a Max Studio dress and a grey leather handbag. Clearly, I’m a bit obsessed with the footwear brands they carry on Hautelook.
I try to stick with brands I know so I know my size, however, Hautelook is part of the Nordstrom family, which means you can return items at your local Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack store.
Like Hautelook, you need to join (for free) Rue La La to get their daily sales email. Rue La La also has a set quantity of products so it is first come, first served. The great thing about Rue La La is you earn free shipping for one month after you make a purchase. The downside is, you have to ship your returns to them since they don’t have a storefront.
I have ordered quite a bit from Rue La La. Some of my recent purchases include a Dogeared silver pearl necklace (that gets lots of compliments), Stride Rite shoes for my three year old, Clinique Clinical Dark Spot Corrector (review to come because it is a miracle worker!) and Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer, a black leather handbag, Stila makeup and various other tops and sweaters. Rue La La also carries a lot of really high end brands like Jimmy Choo, Escada, Fendi and Movado, but those are a bit out of my price range, even at a discount.
Just like Hautelook and Rue La La, you need to join (for free) Gilt Group to begin receiving daily sales emails. I don’t purchase as much from Gilt Group since they tend to offer deals on higher end designers that are out of my price range. They also offer deals on jewelry (which I rarely wear) and home décor (which I don’t purchase regularly).
That being said, while poking around on their site, I see that they have a deal on my favorite makeup brand – Laura Mercier – starting tomorrow so I’ll definitely be checking out that deal! Some brands I’ve purchased on Gilt Group in the past include Seychelles shoes, Three Dots apparel and Paige premium denim.
Gilt Group has a referral deal that entitles the referrer and new customer to $25 off a purchase if you sign up using my link and enter REFER2017 in the coupon code at the time of purchase.
Insider Online Shopping Tip
I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for Ebates.com but maybe you didn’t think it was worth your time. I initially thought I don’t shop online enough to make it worthwhile so I didn’t bother signing up. You know what? I was wrong. Very wrong.
It is super easy to sign up for eBates.com. If you use my referral link, you even get $10 for signing up (before March 31). Since I use Amazon.com quite a bit, I figured I would just log in through eBates when I shop on Amazon. Then I used eBates for a makeup purchase on Sephora.com. A few months later, I got a check for $32 for just a few purchases!
All you have to do is remember to go to eBates and use their link to get to the site you want. Guess what? Hautelook is on eBates, so is Gilt Group and of course Amazon and pretty much most online shopping sites. For the extra step of logging in through eBates before going to your shopping site, you get a percentage of your purchase back. Not a bad deal!
If you are busy but still enjoy shopping, definitely check out these online shopping sites. If you’re concerned about signing up for a bunch of new emails and cluttering your inbox, you can always set up a free Google email address just for your online shopping deals.
